FixO3 - Deliverable D5.3: Establishment of technology clusters ArchiMer
Rolin, Jean-francois; O'Neill, Nick; Aoustin, Yannick; Begot, Emilie.
Establishment of technology clusters: A number of technology clusters (e.g. ICT, sensors) that include industry & academic partners. The development of clusters of technology companies stimulates innovation. SLR will identify technology companies in different sectors, for example sensor developers, data transmission technologists and biofouling specialists and combine them in a cluster that encourages interaction to address specific technical problems encountered in the deployment of seafloor observatories.

From bottom landers to observatory networks ArchiMer
Person, Roland; Aoustin, Yannick; Blandin, Jerome; Marvaldi, Jean; Rolin, Jean-francois.
For a long time, deep-sea investigation relied on autonomous bottom landers. Landers call vary in size from 200 kg weight to more than 2 t for the heaviest scientific landers and are used during exploration cruises oil medium periods, from one week to some months. Today, new requirements appear. Scientists want to understand in detail the phenomena outlined during exploration cruises, to elaborate a model for future forecasting. For this, it is necessary to deploy instrumentation at a precise location often for a long period. A new mode of ocean science investigation Using long-term seafloor observatories to obtain four dimensional data sets has appeared. Although this concept has been proposed for many years, the high level of investment required limits...

JERICO. First FCT Activities Report. D#1.6 ArchiMer
Puillat, Ingrid; Aoustin, Yannick; Monbet, Philippe; Nolan, Glenn.
This report describes the different actions carried out within the Forum for Coastal Technology framework. FCT’s actions were implemented to better encourage collaboration between public stakeholders (scientists, managers, executives, ..) and private companies to ensure a common and coherent approach of the technical developments for operational oceanographic systems. In that sense, the two main FCT actions for this first JERICO’s year were dedicated to (1) enquire about needs and expectations from companies manufacturing oceanographic instrumentations and sensors companies and (2) the organisation of the first FCT workshop at the Sea Tech Week event in Brest (France, october 2012).

JERICO. Terms of reference of the Forum for Coastal Technologies (FCT) D#1.3 ArchiMer
Puillat, Ingrid; Aoustin, Yannick; Monbet, Philippe; Nolan, Glenn.
This report presents the JERICO Forum for Coastal Technologies (FCT). In Europe there is a high level of research in public and academic institutes, but this research doesn't always lead to instruments that are able to be used in an operational way. To give momentum, one must create (or make understandable) the value of the technology to the instrument user. Companies need visibility to invest in the oceanographic market (which is a niche market). Looking outside the traditional technical and scientific environment, many technologies could be suitable to develop new sensors. On the other hand, many instrument users don't have a sound knowledge of the available market. In the above context, JERICO organises a ‘Forum for Coastal Technologies (FCT)’. This...

La Bouée MOLIT : un nouveau concept de bouée instrumentée ArchiMer
Quemener, Loic; Repecaud, Michel; Jegou, Paul; Aoustin, Yannick; Retho, Michael; Barbot, Stephane; Gautier, Laurent; Podeur, Christian; Pichavant, Pascal.

New instruments to monitor coastal sea water masses according to European Water Framework Directive, Trophimatique project ArchiMer
Repecaud, Michel; Degres, Yves; Bernard, Nathalie; Allenou, Jean-pierre; Aoustin, Yannick; Arrondeau, Jean-pierre; Bouget, Jean-francois; Bucas, Karenn; Daniel, Anne; Guillaud, Jean-francois; Hamon, Michel; Jegou, Paul; Laes, Agathe; Le Roux, Dominique; Le Piver, David; Quemener, Loic; Rolin, Jean-francois; Rudelle, Tiphaine; Legrand, Jacques; Vuillemin, Renaud.
The automated monitoring of physico-chemical parameters in the coastal zone has been using large buoys and fixed infrastructures. A better understanding of many estuaries is needed in order to fulfil the agenda and requirements of the European Water Framework Directive. In order to address the fluxes of nutrients as well as algal blooms and low oxygen events, the "TROPHIMATIQUE" project has developed a new generation of instruments able to be deployed in sea waters. The smaller size of the new instruments is intended to facilitate the maintenance. A new multi-parameter probe has been developed. The measurements of all nutrients are performed thanks to the CHEMINI flow injection analysers for nitrate, ammonia, silicate and phosphate. A sampler using similar...
